My passion for cakes and baking started at a very young age. My Nan was our local cake decorator and I spent many days from the age of 2 sitting right beside her while she babysat me in her small caravan and watched her decorate all types of cakes.

At the end of high school I dreamt of becoming a chef but with high marks my teachers and family thought Uni and Psychology were my best option…….

3.5 years later and 2 units away from graduation I decided pastry cheffing was where my passion lie and I quit and moved to the big smoke of Brisbane from my tiny home town of Middlemount, in Central QLD, to start my apprenticeship.

Wow what a move! and the beginning of my love for cheffing, commercial kitchens and all the crazy fast paced life that comes with it. I am very lucky to have worked under some amazing head chefs while working my way up to 2IC in dessert restaurants, hotels, wholesalers, cafes & cake shops. This wide range of environments and hard work has taught me every aspect of the industry and a work ethic that guarantees all my cakes are of the highest standard.

My Love for art and craft has also helped in the more intricate parts of cake decorating. I have put my hand to pretty much every craft medium. I have self taught myself fondant cakes, fondant decorations and figurines as well as sugar flowers. So much fun!

After maternity leave, and having spent a couple of years loving being a stay at home mum to my daughter Patience, I decided the only way to be a hands on mum and continue my passion of baking was to start my own business. 2am starts or finishes are not family friendly unfortunately. So here I am living my dream and doing it all in my own time, on my terms, from my home based kitchen.

To me the best part of my job is the personal contact with my customers. Like the reaction I get from a mum who’s picking up the first “fancy cake” for her child, and let me tell you there have been tears, from both of us. Or the beautiful letters and reviews I receive from customers about their cake. I am still bowled over that people actually take the time to thank me. When people say that it was the best cake they have ever tasted or that everyone at the event was talking about it, my heart feels like it’s going to explode.
